Even the best roof can fall victim to severe weather outbreaks, fallen trees, vandals and other unexpected events.  A relatively small leak can interrupt operations, slow down workflow and result in equipment, structural and inventory damage.  A larger leak can be financially disastrous.

New Construction

Whether you’re building from the ground up or performing an expansion, it’s extremely important to select a roof roofing contractor that can deliver for you. Roof installation is a critical part of your construction schedule and it needs to be done professionally, safely, on time and on budget.

Architectural Roofs

Architectural or designer shingles have more layers per section than basic three-tab roof types, and they can last twice as long. We know how to install roof shingles to the exact specifications of major manufacturers.

Clay roof tiles – Spanish roof tiles are prized for their unique looks, but concrete and clay tile roof types can be made to fit any style of home. They are heavy enough to handle any condition: wind, hail, fire and pests. Your roofer needs to make sure your house can handle the added load. Our engineering team can offer you a free evaluation and tell you for sure.

Properly installed clay roof tiles will stay in place for a lifetime, although they may break in a windstorm or when walked on carelessly.

Slate – Mined from the earth, no two pieces are alike, adding to its exclusive appeal. Because it is heavy to transport and has to be hand-cut, this is one of the most expensive roof types. It requires a lot of time and experience to install correctly. If you want a lifetime roof, this is ideal. Slate roofing tiles are fireproof, insect-proof and hold up against any kind of weather.

Like tile, it may be too heavy for some homes. Call our residential roofing contractors for a free estimate. We source ours only from mines known for durable, high-quality stone.

Cedar shake roof – Natural wood is an eco-friendly choice and looks beautiful on a high-sloped surface. Many are treated with insect and algae-repellants as well as fire-retardants. There are two main roof types: a wood shingle roof can be made of many types of lumber. Pieces are machine-cut into uniform sizes. What sets cedar shake roofing apart, besides the type of wood, is the rough-cut finish that gives a rustic look.

Low slope roofing – If your home has a flat covering or you have flat roof house plans, you need extra leak protection. There are many flat roof types, but TPO and rubber roofing are good choices for a house roof. They stretch with temperature changes to give you tear-proof protection in all weather.

Roof Repair

Each roof leak is unique. Certain damage may be visible at the roof surface level while some water damage and will go undetected by an untrained eye, particularly on a leaking flat roof. A thorough assessment requires an experienced roof repair contractor with highly trained roofing inspectors to investigate and identify the extent and severity of damage to your roof system. Nations Roof is a roofing repair company with roof inspectors who know how to examine the critical areas so proper roof repair or replacement can be performed. Our professional inspectors provide a comprehensive evaluation of your roof at critical check-points on the roof system.

Roof Maintenance

All roofs require periodic inspection and maintenance in order to perform as designed and to provide a long and effective service life. Periodic inspection and maintenance is also typically required by roofing system manufacturers to keep roofing warranties in full force and effect. Although all building owners should establish a periodic roof inspection program, inspection and maintenance of any roof should be undertaken only by qualified persons who are familiar with safe roofing practices, including all applicable occupational, health and safety regulations relating to the roofing and construction industries.

Modern roofing systems contain a wide variety of components and installation techniques. All roof inspections should be conducted by a licensed roofing contractor or similar roofing professional. Typically, two inspections should be conducted each year, one in the spring and one in the late fall.

Roof Asset Management

When managing multiple roofs, you need to be confident that your roofing program will perform and deliver. Nations Roof is the best resource for managing all your long-term roofing needs easily, consistently, accurately and securely.

Ourroof asset management program provides the roof condition reports and forecast data you need to avoid potential problems, helping you manage your roof assets efficiently and cost-effectively.

We estimate the remaining service life of your roof through an inspection of ten critical benchmarks including membrane condition, flashing, leakage, drainage condition, roof age, present repair status, insulation condition, rooftop traffic, interior occupancy and an overall assessment.

Preventive Maintenance

Ice damage, high winds, rain and snow will take their toll on any roof. And while you can’t know when these weather events will take place, you should know that you’re prepared for them. Otherwise you run the risk of unexpected roof problems interrupting your business, causing unhappy tenants, disappointed customers and severe financial loses for your business. The good news is a small investment in a regular program of roof inspections and maintenance can help you avoid and minimize unexpected and costly repairs. In fact, independent analysis shows that dollars spent on preventive maintenance programs deliver 300% ROI over time.

Planned Maintenance: The best way to prepare for the worst

Nations Roof Planned Maintenance program is designed to take the worry out of roof asset management, while protecting and prolonging the life of your roof by:

Consequently, Planned Maintenance helps you avoid unexpected budget and roofing issues, facility downtime and premature roof failure or replacement.

Disaster Response

When it comes to storms no one ever really knows when, where or how bad. All we do know is that a storm will be happening somewhere, soon.

Hail damage in the U.S. approaches a billion dollars annually and the effects of snow accumulation are even more devastating.

Add it all up and your roof and business are vulnerable to destructive consequences like water intrusion, loss of power, equipment damage, roof collapse from snow and other major problems that could cause severe financial losses.

Energy Solutions

Soaring energy prices. Increased corporate responsibility. Recognition that healthier workplaces are good for business.

It’s no coincidence that green building has moved from a niche business to becoming the standard in the industry. Major organizations across the globe are incorporating it as part of their real estate strategies, with over 80% of U.S. corporations engaged in sustainable construction.

Nations Roof can help your roof utilize an effective way to generate energy and find cost savings. From green roofs to solar installations to lightweight materials and more, putting your roof to work with Nations Roof is smart business.

Snow Removal

So winter is upon us again and excessive snow totals are expected for the 2014 season. Nations Roof has compiled a roof service plan for the excessive snow loads due to the accumulation of snow and ice. First, ice storms are expected to leave from one to three inches, then large snowfalls will add to the total weight that trusses and rafters must support. Because of the ice layer, snow cannot melt, and it is likely that the layer of ice will not melt until the spring. Each additional snowfall this year will intensify the weight problem.

How much weight can most roofs take? Snow loads for buildings in the eastern regions are generally around 20 lbs. per square foot. This does not include the weight of the roof membrane, trusses and any HVAC equipment on the roof areas.

How Much Does Snow Weigh?

A one-inch layer of water or ice weighs approximately five lbs. per square foot. A roof designed for a 20 lb. per square foot snow load could theoretically hold up to four inches of ice. How much snow is that? Meteorologists estimate that about 12 inches of snow is equivalent to one inch of water, which means a roof can hold up to four feet of snow. Wet and packed snow weighs more, so a roof with a load of wet snow or packed snow might only to be able to handle up to three feet of snow.

What is a safe amount of snow to have on your roof over an extended period of time? A good estimate would be about half of the 20 lb. per square foot design load, or about two feet of snow, or approximately one inch of ice and one inch of snow.
